Our History

Kotton Klenser™ Products have been the 'go to' clean, preserve and protect formulas for wood, metal, and oil paintings for over 50 years. Frank Gray developed Kotton Klenser™ products in his workshop after inheriting the contents of his grandparents' pre-Civil War estate in 1962. The contents had been stored for many years with no maintenance and limited climate control. Frank's wife, Doris, gently but firmly, urged Frank to keep the neglected inheritance in the barn until organized, cleaned and repaired.

The process of organizing, cleaning, preserving and protecting estate contents evolved to a full appreciation of the family and its history. Frank and Doris retired from their jobs, bought a travel trailer and began to see the country and add to the family antiques. To finance the travel expense, Frank packaged Kotton Klenser™ Products to sell. And off they went to plant the seeds of Kotton Klenser™ Products, make many new friends, and memories throughout the United States.

Frank passed away in 1972. Doris ran the business until 1977. The original formulas for Kotton Klenser™ Products are the same and family members run the business. Museums, art conservationists, construction and renovation companies, antiques shops, and individual collectors continue to use Kotton Klenser™ products. Great products that do what they are made to do and word of mouth from users built the business. It is not unusual for a customer to call and share that he or she knew Frank and Doris while placing an order.

We look forward to hearing from you and strive to give great customer service and help you find the right Kotton Klenser™ product[s] to clean, preserve, and protect your project.
